Holiday Activities

Finally getting around to sharing some photos of some fun holiday activities we enjoyed before break! In math, we finished up our unit on multi-digit addition and subtraction. To review we played a fun game on our Chromebooks called Kahoot (this was a big hit!) and then we went searching around the room in teams to solve lots of addition and subtraction problems!

When we come back from break, we will be moving into a math unit about measurement and fractions. This is always a great unit to let the third graders help with some cooking at home!

We enjoyed some third grade team time! We read Snowmen at Night and then made own our snowmen out of construction paper. Check out what Summit third graders think snowmen do at night in the staircase at school!

Lastly, we spent some time making a holiday gift for someone. Hopefully these made their way home safely last week!

Snow Much Fun

We got to enjoy some time in the snow at recess on Tuesday! Winter has arrived. Please make sure your child's snow pants and coats are labeled. We have several pairs of black snow pants and it has been a little confusing for kids!

We enjoyed a trip to the Flynn Theatre this morning! It was a great interactive show and got us on our feet and moving! We enjoyed this trip with all of second and third grade!

This afternoon we had a videoconference with a museum in Texas. We learned about how to identify an animal by their skull. We loved one of the rhymes that said eyes in the front, hunt and eyes on the side, hide.

Four Winds and Weather Structures

Summit Street School is collecting items for break boxes and our class was assigned crackers. If you would like to donate any crackers for break boxes you can send them in with your child next week and we have a collection box outside our classroom.

Report cards came home today. Please look them over with your child, sign the envelope, and return the empty envelope on Monday.

We will be going to the Flynn Theatre on Wednesday December 13th. Please send your child with a lunch from home if they did not order a lunch from school.

Holiday Luncheon will be Thursday December 14th from 11:00-11:30 for third grade.

Holiday Sing Along will be Thursday December 21st at 1:30pm.

We had Four Winds on Wednesday and learned all about trees and their cones. We went on a scavenger hunt for cones (only some are called pine cones) and then tried to sort them into different baskets. Thanks to Liam's mom and Sawyer's mom for helping us out!

Today we had Arts Integration with Mrs. Foley and Ms. Pero! We started working on our housing structures to withstand different natural hazards like blizzards, floods, hurricanes and more! We had a blast building with recyclable materials! We will be testing our structures on December 22nd from 9:30-10:15 if you would like to join us!
